Filipino ReaderCon 2012

Hello there!
Nice of you to drop by the BLAIR BOOK PROJECT blog. Yesterday, August 18, 2012, I attended a wonderful event at the Filipinas Heritage Library: THE 2ND FILIPINO READERCON!!!

Cool, huh? It was exciting for me because it's the first time for me to attend such an event. Last year (ReaderCon was held along with the Manila International Book Fair), I just went straight for the book fair downstairs and since I'm a little bit of a Cinderella (I try to cram all my to-do things in one day) I dashed off after a few hours.

At this event...well, I didn't really catch much of it. I was late! Sorry. In my defense, Saturdays are my errand days so I had things to do before I headed to the event. But I had a great time during the few hours left that I was able to catch.

I didn't really know which book discussion to attend. Since I was meeting with Maria from Reading is the Ultimate Aphrodisiac, I thought I'd just go along with where she was going. Can you believe my surprise when I found myself sitting in on the book discussion (headed by The Mysterious Reading Society) of FIFTY SHADES OF GREY?! I thought Maria was KIDDING when she texted me that we'd attend that instead of the THE LITTLE PRINCE. Wow! I was already wondering what had I gotten myself into.

Now just to give you a little background, I did TRY to read Fifty Shades of Grey. I stopped after a few chapters because I couldn't take Ana's voice (I apologize to those who love this book but this just isn't for me). Anyway, during the hour and a half or so of the discussion, I found myself really enjoying the topic. The positive and negative feedback from different readers (I think majority didn't like it that much though) was hilarious and really entertaining.

I don't have any pictures during the event, I was to shy to click away. Seriously, what's wrong with me?! But I did get a few things from the event:

GR-TFG Button Pin
ReaderCon Programme
Brochure of Taste by Kate Evangelista
Certificate of Attendance
Mini-journal Necklace from Alunsina Handbound Books

I love the mini-journal necklace that I got. It's so cute!
