Shadows by Jennifer L. Armentrout [SHORT REVIEW]

TITLE: Shadows (Lux #0.5)
AUTHOR: Jennifer L. Armentrout
PUBLISHER: Entangled Publishing
PUB DATE: Feb 20 2012
Summary from Goodreads:

"The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. As a Luxen, an alien life form on Earth, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane.

Dangerous. Tempting. Undeniable.

Bethany can’t deny the immediate connection between her and Dawson. And even though boys aren’t a complication she wants, she can’t stay away from him. Still, whenever they lock eyes, she’s drawn in.

Captivated. Lured. Loved.

Dawson is keeping a secret that will change her existence...and put her life in jeopardy. But even he can’t stop risking everything for one human girl. Or from a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself."

Warning: Spoilers all around!

Shadows is a short story from the Lux series where we meet, Dawson Black. If you’ve read Obsidian, then you know that Dawson was said to be dead, along with Bethany, the human girl Dawson fell in love with. The only thing revealed in Obsidian was that Dawson didn’t care about the rules and what the DOD says, his love for Bethany is worth all the sacrifices he has to make. But we don’t know the whole story, until now...

Is it just me or did this short story seem longer than expected? Is it because it doesn’t have that much Daemon pull and power? *giggles* Just saying his name makes me so giddy. *fanning self* Whoops! I’m sorry, I’ll behave. Promise. *sheepish smile*

So we finally get the chance to find out what really happened the night Dawson and Bethany disappeared. Their whole story wasn’t exactly as invigorating. It’s a normal tale about two teens, love at first sight, and the ever tragic ending. I’m telling you, without Daemon, things just seem a lot less interesting. *giggles again* What? Admit it, you feel it too!

Not that I’m saying this wasn’t enjoyable. It was, really. I’m glad I finally got to know Dawson. But what struck a chord was when Daemon and Dee found out about Dawson’s supposed death. My heart ached to see Daemon so devastated, told you! Daemon equals memorable moments. *sticks tongue out*

Anyway, I don’t have much to say. I’ve read Obsidian, Onyx and Opal, and now this. I read Shadows just to quench a bit of my thirst for Origin. Did it work? Not so much. I’m still dying to get my hands on Origin. Ha! Ha!
