Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Best Sequels Ever

Top Ten Best Sequels Ever
Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten list  that bloggers are welcome to join in and answer.

I'll be quoting my own reviews here. They pretty much sum up how I feel about these sequels. :)
So without further ado, I give you my list [in no particular order].

EONA by Alison Goodman
Definitely better than the first book, albeit heftier.

"Alison Goodman’s world building skills were truly commendable. The action scenes were awesome as well and her writing, although long and descriptive in a way, was beautiful all the same. I have to say this was a very fitting ending to this duology. It was a little sad at some point but just like how Eona and Kygo had felt, I agree that their decision was the right thing to do even with all the sacrifices that had to be made." - from my review of Eona

SCARLET by Marissa Meyer
I LLLLOOOOOVVVVEEEE me some Wolf!

"He’s not the typical book boyfriend I’d giggle and ogle over. He’s shy and has a totally different persona but all the more swoon-worthy." - from my review of Scarlet

DARK TRIUMPH by Robin LaFevers
"While Grave Mercy was focused on Ismae’s life and how she came to be a handmaiden of death, Dark Triumph shows Sybella’s story. If I thought Ismae’s situation was dire when she took refuge with the Convent of St. Mortain, Sybella’s case was incomparable. Oh, how cruel life has been for this young lady. If I wanted to hug Ismae back when I was reading about her, I want to smother Sybella with all the love for all that she has been through." - from my review of Dark Triumph

SIEGE AND STORM by Leigh Bardugo
I love it when sequels introduce readers to new sets of characters to tag along with our main protags, and Sturmhond is no exception.

"Sturmhond, you dashing debonair, you! It felt like love at first sight (okay, not so much, but close enough) when I first laid eyes on his character. Traumatized with the awful experience I’ve had over falling for the Darkling at book one, I was begging to see that Sturmhond would not turn out a villain as well. Thank goodness! There are other exciting new additions to the characters in this story but Sturmhond ultimately stood out, considering his purpose to the story I guess that was essential." - from my review of Siege and Storm

THROUGH THE EVER NIGHT by Veronica Rossi
"Having gotten past the awkward stage of adapting to the world building and writing style from the first book, Under the Never Sky, I had no qualms about book 2 and reading Through the Ever Night was such an enjoyment that I practically breezed through it. Each chapter was just incredibly exciting. And the fact that this is no short on action and adventure just makes me adore this book all the more." - from my review of Through the Ever Night

CROWN OF MIDNIGHT by Sarah J. Maas
I love every moment between Chaol and Celaena's relationship... except for the crumbling moments of Chaol's heart!

"Ah… blissful moments… such happy, gushy, sweet moments. Until Ms. Maas here decided to shatter these moments like a mirror breaking to a thousand pieces! How cruel!!! Not only do these crazy love birds break up, but it gets worse! Why? Why must you do this Ms. Maas? I am perfectly happy with Chaol and Celaena together; I don’t need Dorian back into picture! What did I ever do to you?! *sobs* It was heartbreaking to watch Chaol looking so lost and defeated." - from my review of Crown of Midnight

Don't get me wrong, I love this book. I just hated seeing Chaol heartbroken. :(

THE IRON QUEEN by Julie Kagawa
I don't remember a book I read the same year that had me sobbing absurdly loud and uncontrollable as this one. I was mess!

"I love the growth I see – from Ash’s more open loving persona, Meghan in the no-longer-a-damsel-in-distress ass-kicking character, the unyielding mischievous Puck, Grimalkin (did I spell that right?), the new set of characters, the battle, the false king – damn, I have to stop there or I’d be going on and on about everything." - from my review of The Iron Queen

CATCHING FIRE by Suzanne Collins
This is, by far, my favorite among the books from The Hunger Games trilogy.

"I love the new characters that appeared on Catching Fire, despite not knowing who they were during Hunger Games, Collins has given them distinct and remarkable personalities that the reader would definitely not forget. Aside from that, I also love seeing Katniss develop her character even more. On the love triangle issue, it seems Peeta already had a good start from the first book on being the readers’ bet for Katniss. But on the second book, it’s nice to see Gale tip the scale a bit." - from my review of Catching Fire

BEAUTIFUL DARKNESS by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
Okay so I may have lashed out on my review of Beautiful Chaos about how awful this series was moving to, but I have to admit that I had a blast reading Beautiful Darkness. And on the rare moments where I find secondary characters more likable than the main protags, Link and Liv are definitely one of them.

"...as soon as Ethan, Link and Liv went into the caster world, I got hooked! I mean, what an adventure! Of course, I’ve loved Link during the first book but now I am truly as close to worshipping him. He’s just amazing! He’s funny, he’s cute, and did mention he’s really funny? Liv is another character that I loved. She’s simple and yet she’s weird too, but in a good way. I like the brainiac character such as she is. " - from my review of Beautiful Darkness

RIVER SECRETS by Shannon Hale
I couldn't think of a better male protagonist to be the voice of one of the Books of Bayern than Razo.

"Razo's character is someone that you would definitely remember. He's cunning, funny, sweet and buoyant. I just can't get enough of him." - from my review of River Secrets

So, what about you? Any particular sequels you really love? Go on and share it with me and I'll be sure to check it out.

Happy reading! ^_^
