Glitches by Marissa Meyer [REVIEW]

Glitches (Lunar Chronicles #0.5)
by Marissa Meyer

Summary from Goodreads:

"Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. In “Glitches,” a short prequel story to Cinder, we see the results of that illness play out, and the emotional toll that takes on Cinder. Something that may, or may not, be a glitch..."

Rating:

After reading Cinder, I still felt like there’s still a lot that I don’t know about the protagonist. The book already dove into the present life of Cinder; working as a mechanic.

So I was ecstatic to find Glitches!  It’s nice to see how exactly Cinder got to become a mechanic and how she ended up with Adri, her stepmother. We also get a glimpse of her stepfather, Garan: a man of mystery, and an ever-devoted husband and father to his family.

Most of all, it’s nice to see a different side of our villain. If you read Cinder first before this prequel, you probably hate Cinder’s stepmother. Now this book may not exactly sway your impression and feelings about her but it does let you see a side of her that can gain your empathy.

Readers also get to see how Cinder gains a friend with the help of her newfound cyborg ability.

Glitches will hardly take up much time so if you are thinking about giving Cinder a shot, start on this one first to give yourself a prologue of sort.
