Rating:

I didn’t understand the world of this book at first. The usual Faerie books I’ve read would be in a world either during the late centuries of the past or within the present state, since the fair folk are told to be really old. I didn’t expect a post-apocalyptic era so I had a bit of a hard time grasping what kind of environment this was.

When I finally understood the setting, I was able to relish the adventure that Liza was undertaking with Matthew.

I really appreciated Liza and Matthew’s journey on finding Liza’s mother, but I have to say this isn’t one of the best books I’ve read. It was good but not as memorable as I thought it would be.

There are several things that I got a little confused about. First of all, I couldn’t relate to Liza or maybe I wasn’t given the chance to get to know her more. Although I did love her faerie magic, now that was cool. Matthew on the other hand merely looked like just an ordinary werewolf other than a human touched by faerie magic.

I wish I knew more about how the magic spread among the humans in a more elaborate explanation. It would have been a very interesting subject.

I would’ve loved to see some romance with the characters but unfortunately this book lacked that part. Also it appeared a bit too short and too slow. I also think this was a bit too dramatic for me. I didn’t see any humorous events in this book, which I would’ve loved to get a whiff of.  

Regardless, I will read the next book and see how it fares.

No IMM last week, because I saved them for this week... and because I didn't have much to show then. 

First, let me show you what happened on September 13-18, 2011:

Hooray!

It was the very first time I attended something like this, simply because I wasn't aware there was such an event here in the Philippines. I guess diving into the reading-addiciton really kept me up to date to anything that related to books. 

It's sad that I only got to go there once (on September 14) since I'm packed with things to do for the rest of the week but I'm glad I got to take part on this. I'm definitely going to anticipate next year's book fair and I hope it gets better.
