Rating:

I never really know what to expect in a book when Cat Patrick is involved. The synopsis of Revived is simple enough that I really never thought it to get as deeply as it went through.

Daisy is a part of a secret organization that has developed a drug called Revive that brings people back to life. Daisy has died 5 times already. Suffice to say, she is a test subject of the drug. Seeming to be used to having the drug around every time she dies, she never really thought of death as finality. That is until she moves to a new town with a new identity, and meets two of the most important people she could ever have in her life, Audrey her new best friend, and Matt, Audrey’s brother and becomes Daisy’s boyfriend. Daisy comes to realize that dying at this point is not an option; she doesn’t want to start over again and lose what she has now.

I haven't thought of a name for a weekly meme of book hauls so let's just go with what's posted above.

For now, I'll call this the "Whatever it's called" Book Haul. It's only temporary, I swear. I just haven't thought of a clever name for it. So this is pretty much just like In My Mailbox by the Story Siren, This Week In Books by Pop Culture Junkie, and Stacking the Shelves by Tynga's Reviews and all the other titles with the similar concept here and there. I can't quite pick out whether this week was a good one or a bad one... I think it's a good one because I've got amazing books this week and I'm so happy about that.. but on the other hand, I broke my 3 sole rules about my book-splurging:

1. I will only buy one book each week. - I bought two (2)

2. I will only buy paperback books. - both are hardcovers

3. I will not spend more than Php500.00 on a book - I went over budget with each

Ugh! I hate my rules! 

Okay, I'm babbling so yeah, IMM time:

First day of the week: So I got Forgotten by Cat Patrick at a nearby bookstore. I already have the ebook but I'm more of the "real deal" kind of reader so I just had to have this.

Then came wednesday: I was all happy with one book [and with the fact that I was over my budget by Php200.00] on my book splurge but then, this came in the mail; which I ordered from the Book Depository. Yay!

Oh! but Saturday's here and there's a SALE: I just couldn't resist! Must buy a book! And I found this amazingly sitting all by its lonesome self that I just grabbed it before anyone else did. Mine! [Again over budget by Php100.00]

Part psychological drama, part romance, and part mystery, this thought-provoking novel will inspire readers to consider the what-if's in their own lives and recognize the power they have to control their destinies."

I am at awe with the premise of this book. It reminds me a little of the movie “50 First Dates” but with a rather different twist.

Forgotten is a story of a 16 year-old girl named London who goes to sleep and wakes up with no memory of the day before. She writes notes at night reminding her of what happened and what she needs to do. Another catch is that she has flashbacks of the future… or rather flash-forwards.

London is a character that I admire a lot. The way she deals with her life’s dilemma is really commendable. She’s strong and she does the best she can to make it seem like she’s normal, but even the strongest person can turn vulnerable at times and when she had a little meltdown over the burden she’s carrying, I couldn’t blame her. I don’t even know what I’d do if I where in her shoes. I wouldn’t want to encounter precious moments in life and have them taken away in just a few hours.

I also like the character of Luke. Finally! A typical guy with no super powers, non-mythical, not so brawny and not the overly emo kind; just a normal guy who’s in love with a girl. Oh! This is so fresh and I love it!

I wasn’t expecting the reason behind London’s condition. I always thought that she might’ve been in an accident or something but I didn’t expect that there was an even deeper story behind it. When I came about the ending, after all that had been revealed, I felt that this part left me hanging for more. I feel like it just wasn’t finished yet.

Nonetheless, Forgotten is one of the most beautiful, simple stories that I have ever read! I rarely read books that have drama but this is one that I would love to read over again. A definite page-turner and a very heartwarming story!

          - Who doesn't want to read this? I know the ARC's available online but I'd rather wait for the real thing. I'm not much of an e-reader.

2. Vanish by Sophie Jordan

         - I'm curious about who the cover is and what's in store for Jacinda and Will's relationship.

3. Beautiful Chaos by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stolh

         - I loved the first 2 books so I'm excited about this one too.

4. Beauty Queens by Libba Bray

         - It's kind of like a girly version of "Lord of the Flies", I want to see what it's all about.

5. Forgotten by Cat Patrick

        - It has a very interesting synopsis.

6. Devoted by Hilary Duff

         - I've read the first book out of curiousity now I want to see how Hilary develops as a writer/author.

7. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

         - Beautiful cover, intriguing summary, 'nuff said.

8. Enclave by Ann Aguirre

         - I've seen this many times on the shelf of a bookstore I constantly go to, I think it's about time I pick it up.

9. Meridian by Amber Kizer

         - It sounds dark and mysterious, I want to know if this has something new to offers to the whole raving angel-themed books.

10. The Faerie Ring by Kiki Hamilton

         - This has been in my TBR list for a while and now that it's coming out I can't wait to get my hands on it.

Hopefully those that are just about to come out this fall would be available here in the Philippines as per their expected release dates. I'm really excited to get my hands on them.
