So many exciting books are coming out this fall but I think this time I'm focusing on my current book pile. Okay, maybe with a couple of fall book releases. Here's my list:

OPPOSITION by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I don't know why but I've been holding off from reading this one. Maybe knowing this is the final book makes it just so... final. No more Daemon! *sobs*

THE INFINITE SEA by Rick Yancey
The Fifth Wave became an instant fave for me after reading it. It was absolutely awesome! I'm really excited to dive into book two.

THE QUEEN OF ZOMBIE HEARTS by Gena Showalter
Another conclusion to a series. *sobs* I think I'm developing issues with endings!

ANTIGODDESS by Kendare Blake
This has been on my shelf for quite some time now. I've been picking it up from time to time but never quite sat through the whole book yet, so maybe it's time I should.

MORTAL HEART by Robin LaFevers
Series ender again! I don't think I'll be as heartbroken as I would be with anything else but with His Fair Assassins. I'm excited over this one, but I don't want it to end!!!

I had my fair share of swoon moments over books in a variety of genres. I gushed, I squealed, I giggled and had my heart race over the sweet nothing exchanges of book couples I have learned to love over the course of their journeys and stories. So expect to see me cheat (a lot!) on this top ten.

I'm probably not going to make much sense if I divulge details so I'll add up some of my favorite quotes from the books instead.

Hello, everyone! Pardon the three-week absence of posts from my blog. One of the reasons why is that I am knee-deep in wedding preparations for most of my free time from work. I’m taking back what I said on my review of Opal that that was my favorite book among the series. THIS is my favorite! The Lux series has gone far from its first book, Obisidian. What I once thought as a simple paranormal romance between a human and an alien turned out to have an even deeper story than I imagined. Origin has really done this series justice!

The previous books from the Lux series have been in Katy’s point of view alone, but since J.L. Armentrout loves us [even with the damn cliffhangers], she gives us snippets of chapters with Daemon’s point of view as bonuses. And that is one of the things that sets Origin apart; here we get to see the story through alternating points of view of Katy AND DAEMON. How awesome is that?

I am really happy to see the kind of change Katy has developed over this book. At first I was afraid she was doomed to repeat the same mistakes she has done in the past but she proved otherwise. So, thank you, Katy for finally trusting Daemon.

If I had loved Daemon even more in Opal, I am so close [maybe I’m already there] to worshipping this hottie alien in Origin. Talk about a man who is really smitten!

“Well, the good guys really weren't typical. They really weren't the good guys at all, but if I discovered anything, there was no such thing as white and black. There was a lot of gray in the middle.”

When Jennifer L. Armentrout said that Obsession would change the way we’d look at the Luxen and the Arum, she wasn’t kidding!

Meeting Hunter, an Arum, had definitely changed the way I look at these alien life forms inhabiting earth. Yes, Hunter admits he’s a killer but the kind of affection he has developed for Serena gives the impression that he’s more than just a bad guy. I’m sounding like one of those naïve women who long to change the bad boy image of the men in their lives, but as much as it sounds so pathetic, Hunter is [fictional] proof.

It also made me realize that not all the Luxen are like Daemon and his group. There are those that are just as lethal and wicked as any Arum. And there are Arum that can be as good-natured as Daemon and his group, who want nothing more than to live as normal a life as possible.

It was a little hard for me to appreciate Serena and Hunter’s relationship. They sound so much like Daemon and Katy when they first started out that it doesn’t have the same spark of amusement that I once felt towards Daemon and Katy. Although I got to admit, Serena and Hunter had quite an intense bond… Ahem! If you catch my drift! Let’s just say this is definitely not g-rated. But at least it didn’t border over ridiculous, there is so much passion and warmth within.

It feels like these two races are just being pitted at each other. By whom, I have yet to figure out. I wonder if whatever happened here in Obsession would be some relevance to what would happen in Origin, especially since Daemon made a teeny-tiny cameo near the ending. Will we be seeing two rivaling races suddenly join forces for the greater good? Or will this be an endless battle over a war that has raged for generations that should have died down along with their ancestors?

So... I’ve been deferring my time over writing a review for Deity. Don’t get me wrong, I loved this book more than the first two in the Covenant series, but I just don’t really know what to say. Everything was happening so fast that my thoughts couldn’t pick up much of a reaction besides a “wow,” “oh my goodness” and “I did not expect that.” Honestly I don’t remember which commentary was of which scene. But let me try to get form a coherent thought here, and I’ll keep it short.

Deity is probably the most emotional book amongst the [first three] books in this series. A lot sentimental scenes happened within, and I really was pleased with how the author came to give readers an even deeper perspective over the characters and their qualities. Over time I found myself changing my opinion on several characters, and sometimes I struggle to figure out which character is trustworthy and who is not. As confusing as it gets, I love the unpredictability of it.

Pure by Jennifer L. Armentrout [REVIEW]

Warning: Review contains spoilers. I couldn’t help it as of the moment; I need to express some things that would definitely give out some major scenes in Pure.

Pure launches our protag, Alex, to a whole new adventure. She faces a different of challenge from what she stumbled upon in Half-Blood. While she had to deal with ending her daimon mother’s horrific condition in the first book, Alex must now face the consequences of the situation, she has to appear before the Council to give out her statement on what happened. Although it seems, the Minister of the Council has something else in mind...

Wow! Did this book have so much excitement or what? A whole lot of events have occurred and we are yet to be left with closure to any of the things that happened in Half-Blood, the tension and mystery just keeps building up. I felt my heart leap and soar, as well as tumble and fall while reading this. At some point I even felt a little annoyed. There were a whole lot of emotions to go through.

I’ve prolonged reading Half-Blood for quite some time now. I think I did so because the moment I got a copy of this, I was having a bit of a fantasy-genre overload. That time, I’ve been reading YA Fantasy books back to back and I kind of got weary about them that nothing seemed surprising anymore. So I thought I’d set this aside for a better time in the future. And I think I read it at just the right moment, because I enjoyed this book so much that I immediately ordered the next two books in the series online.

I relished every minute of reading Half-Blood; I finished it in just about less than 6 hours. There are still a few interruptions in between reading such as texting, bathroom breaks, snack time, etc. Plus, I had to sleep and go to work the following day so, 3 hours before bedtime then the remaining was from the next day after work. Anyway, it was really gripping that I just had to read on, and it pained me to put it down to do other things.

Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout [REVIEW]

Katy and Daemon are back, better than ever, for another blazing adventure. Now hold your horses, this is not just about Daemon... – oh who am I kidding it’s all about DAEMON! *squeals uncontrollably* Okay, okay, I’ll calm down now. Sorry.

As I was saying, Opal, the third book from the Lux series gives readers a new insight on Katy and Daemon’s relationship. While Obsidian and Onyx went off with these two love birds having the constant love-hate relationship, and the ever brooding push-and-pull, hiding feelings and do-not-associate-with-humans/aliens interactions; Opal gives readers exactly what they were finally waiting for, the ever blooming, you-and-me-against-the-world, sweet moments of Katy and Daemon. Can you say HOT?!

Opal is probably my most favorite among the three (for now) books. I guess I was tired of seeing Katy and Daemon fight off their feelings for each other, it was a relief to see them go into the mushy couple phase. Of course, there’s no lack of the witty, snarky, obnoxious yet sexy Daemon that we all know, but I love that I got to see an even more sensitive side of him. Boy, can this guy make a girl’s knees wobble (I hope that didn’t sound bad, I meant that to be sweet thing).

Shadows is a short story from the Lux series where we meet, Dawson Black. If you’ve read Obsidian, then you know that Dawson was said to be dead, along with Bethany, the human girl Dawson fell in love with. The only thing revealed in Obsidian was that Dawson didn’t care about the rules and what the DOD says, his love for Bethany is worth all the sacrifices he has to make. But we don’t know the whole story, until now...

Is it just me or did this short story seem longer than expected? Is it because it doesn’t have that much Daemon pull and power? *giggles* Just saying his name makes me so giddy. *fanning self* Whoops! I’m sorry, I’ll behave. Promise. *sheepish smile*

Hello! Hello! How have you been? It's been like, a month since my last book haul post. Sorry about that. Things have been crazy.

In case you didn't catch my previous post, our house has been under renovation for a few months and we just got the house blessing on the 22nd of December. In line with that I got newly altered shelves!!! Tadaaa!
